The Village of Orland Hills is accepting applications for a full time maintenance worker. Previous experience preferred. Other desirable qualifications include driving trucks with snowplows, operation of tractors with a front loader, operation of various commercial mowers, snowplowing and salt spreading. Scheduled work period is forty (40) hours per week, however, due to the nature of the work, twenty-four (24) hour availability is required each day.
Duties include such things as: street and storm sewer maintenance, tree care, mowing, equipment and preventative maintenance, snow plowing, salt spreading, traffic sign installation and other general maintenance functions using a variety of manual and power assisted tools. Other functions of the position include such things as ability to effectuate clear and intelligible verbal communications, clearly and accurately prepare time reporting and other records and documents, lift and or move heavy objects, ability to withstand a variety of weather and environmental conditions. Manual dexterity, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling and crawling, as well as, sight recognition, color vision, peripheral vision, close vision, distance vision, and functional depth perception are requirements of this position.
